Red Coloured 2012 Yamaha YZF-R15 Spotted

We are tired of posting news of the upcoming Yamaha R15. Tired because the new bike has been long due and prospective buyers are frustrated waiting for it. Now Vaibhav Saigal has managed to spot the bike yet again in the NCR. The latest image showcases the R15 in red colour and looks similar to the ones spotted before. Now its almost certain the new Yamaha R15 will be getting a significant power boost, otherwise Yamaha won’t test the bike for so long to ensure engine reliability. There is a fat chance that the new Yamaha R15 could get a boost in displacement to 165cc (similar to the big bore kit offered as part of Yamaha Racing Parts). Another school of though suggests that Yamaha is adopting a new 250cc motor, bringing the R25 to our shores. However with no concrete information available from the Japanese motorcycle maker, we will have to continue to wait, watch and get all the more frustrated

Royal Enfield To Launch Desert Storm Classic

Royal Enfield had recently announced a new colour for the Classic 500, the Classic Chrome. However the company plans to launch the desert storm colour as well on the Classic. The new desert storm colour is nothing but sandy beige with matte finish. The colour looks smashing to say the least. However, it still falls short of the presence offered by Military Olive Green. The Military Olive Green is on sale in export markets and Royal Enfield cannot launch it in India as the colour is reserved for the armed froces. Thus, to satisfy our crave for military green, the company plans to offer desert storm, which comes a close second on the hot looking Classic. Do you like the new colour?

Toyota has updated the complete IMV line-up for 2012. The Japanese automaker has just now unveiled the 2012 Toyota Innova at the on-going Indonesia Motor Show. Toyota will launch the Innova facelift in India early next year. The changes will be purely cosmetic and there will no be no alterations to either of the powertrains on offer. The Innova will continue to be powered by the same 2.5-liter D4-D diesel engine and 2.0-liter VVT-i petrol engine. Maruti 800 2012 Facelift Captured

Maruti Suzuki discontinued the 800 after stricter BSIV emission norms kicked in, rendering the car unworthy to be sold in 11 cities. However the 800 was still available in BS3 markets. Now the company is said to be working on a replacement of the 800, which will be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. The new 2012 Maruti 800 will be positioned as the entry-level Maruti car in India, slotting right below the Alto and against the Tata Nano. The new 800 is based on the existing Alto platform and is powered by the same 796cc, 3-cylinder, F8D engine. The engine is tuned to meet new emission norms and the facelifted 800 model will feature a new dashboard and increased interior room.

Maruti Suzuki plans to price the new 800, at least Rs. 40,000/- cheaper than the basic Alto. This will help the company clearly distinguish the new model from the Alto. Expect sub Rs. 2 lakh pricing, putting the new 800 bang into Nano’s pricing point. The new model looks much better compared the old 800, with the boxy looks gone and the adoption of chrome on the exteriors. Maruti might detune the engine from the Alto on the new 800, from the current 47 PS to make the new 800 more fuel efficient. The company plans to target rural and semi-urban areas with the return of the 800.

Honda Plans To Launch 500-1000cc Bikes In India

Honda Motorcycles plans to expand its portfolio with the launch of higher capacity machines in India. The company which sells liter class bikes in the country is now planning to launch motorcycles in the range of 500-1000cc to attract customers across the range. The Japanese automaker has not disclosed which motorcycle they plan to launch, nor have they disclosed the time frame for these launches. A 600cc Honda superbike is just what is needed to unset Kawasaki and Hyosung, but knowing Honda, the waiting period will be so long that the Yamaha would be able to launch the R6 before Honda could blink. The company also plans to rework on its corporate identity and plans to do so through its dealer network.

“We will do a lot of activities on corporate identity and branding. The changes will be more visible across the dealer network. We have vehicles from 50 cc to 1,800 cc. However, 50 cc is not preferred here. We will look to launch 500 cc, 1,000 cc and above engine displacement two wheelers in the Indian markets,” Makato Yoshii, operating head (south and west), Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said.

Bajaj ULC Debuts At 2012 Auto Expo

The mystery of the Bajaj-Renault-Nissan small car has finally come to and end with Bajaj Auto admitting the commercial unsuitability of the project. The Chakan based automaker has no plans to get into the passenger car segment and will instead utilise the ULC for a low cost commercial vehicle. The ULC in production ready guise will be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. The ULC based 4-wheeler will be manufactured at the company’s Aurangabad facility and will be used for transportation measures.

Bajaj Auto was not able to showcase the car to Renault and Nissan, due to which the companies have dropped the idea altogether till they don’t see the ULC. Renault wants to concentrate on its 5 products for India and is not interested in a low cost car. If they do procure the ULC from Bajaj, they would just working on marketing of their product as their own vehicle with their own badge. The hiccups faced by Tata Nano has made many companies think twice over a low cost vehicle.
